Evangelion Production Model Custom-Type Unit 08 in the opening scene of Evangelion Q!

This image involves a large amount of 3D work, namely (and obviously) the rocket boosters, which took me 3 weeks to complete!
I used Google SketchUp for the red structure that holds all together and the top part that holds the Eva and Studio 3D Max 2010 for the rest, this due to some aspects of each program that make some things easy and some others very complicated...
In any case, the Earth at the background is actually a recycled one from HERE, I just mirrored it and gave it a red hue... Mari came out of a 2012 calendar, and she too received some touch-up (can you spot the difference?)

As you see I made 2 versions of this image, one with the Mari and one without her, and to mirror this development, I added a version of this image of Eva 02 without Asuka, that one had her because without her the image seemed empty (as there is no Earth background)

Witness of the end

I had thought on making this scene a long time ago, but only now that I have time I could make it!

My semester ended yesterday, so now I have a lot of free time... Maybe too much, I made 3 images today (one's for a friend and the other one is a Sephiroth image on my devianArt)...

So, a lot of floating trees and rocks, a building and Eva 02 Beast mode after a hard batlle...

I borrowed the promotional pic of an Eva 02's Entry Plug model to place it outside the Eva...

Also, cutting and pasting many images of a Mari Fraülein, I assembled her in the pose she is seen there (you can see her, rigth?)...

Now, what to do...?

So many figures to pick from...

I was testing the last tree brushes I had, that's why it looks like a cheap diorama...
Originally there was one of the Eva running with the Thunder-spear, but censorship forbade me to portray anyone running with a sharp object...
Now, this was the first image that used a green-screen in the back to easen the BG removal... Wasn´t easier... I have to improve that...
Now that Every figure I have has been made into a pic, its time to return to the old style (a couple of Evas fighting or remake a climatic moment in the Tv series or movies).

The Final Decision we all Must Take

Yay! I wanted to make this one! But ramdomness make it come out before Mari with unit 02 before the Besat mode...
The NERV pyramid is from EoE and the buildings from 2.0...
I think I could have done better with the trees in the BG but I've been having homework like hell!
I'm already making the next one... Figuring out how to draw and angel's energy beam...
By the way... Does anyone know who made the Mari drawing? I found it in Google but there was no info on the autor...

At the Very Beginning

Ladies an gentlemen... Dunno why I introduce, no one will come... Anyway...
Mari Illustrious Makinami...
Now this pic is by far the one I like the most... I think both the composition and contrast color/bg are right (finally). This one is actually the 2nd version, the 1st one had a pic of Mari without the helmet and wrist tubes. Unit-05, as I have stated before, is HARD to pose... But anyway, I like challenges; the tghing is the challenge came when it was time to ERASE the original bg... Mein Gott... So many crevices and curves and... The arm-lance!
Still i think is the best one... Several colors were enhance to look "shiny", like the yellow on the lance, pylons and shoulders... Also some sparks were added near the electricity-collecting-thingies on the pylons...
