It's been a while hasn't it? XD

I Have no excuse, but I'm not willing to let this blog die just yet!
So, this time, Evangelion 05 in its short first (and only) sortie.
Except for the Eva Unit all  other elements in the drawing were 3D designs made by me, in fact I have already made the 3rd Angel completely in 3D Max, but some problems with articulation have kept me from using it al, so until then, you can see the head!
The red pillars on the background were previously used with this image, as well as the tunnel, previously seen here.

At the Very Beginning II

The Provisional Evangelion Unit 05 in the underground tunnels of Nerv's Bethany Base in Russia! Part two you ask? part one can be seen HERE

I used the Revoltech's papercraft scenario and Google SketchUp to accommodate the pieces inside the prism...
After that I only had to take a picture of the Eva that matched the angle from which the screen capture of the 3D model was taken...
Few lights here and there and done!

I found myself with some extra cash and decided to buy the Revoltech Evangelion 08 Alpha, it will be here this week, so I'll be posting it's review later, for now, you can watch the video review of Eva 00 and 03 from the 2.0 mold on my Youtube Channel

I saw some finished product pictures and it looks A-MA-ZING!!!

Wrecking Tokyo III

It's been a while since I used Eva 05 for an image so I decided to put it here, in another strange fight...

This time, to create the city behind, I used Google's SketchUp... The city IS 3D design even when not noticeable due to the drawn appearance of the buildings, but it's a start...
Besides that, I didn't used any new anything on this one (most of the production time went on to making the city and it's renderings)

Have you watched the Eva Q camrip? It's great! I think there will be around 12 new figures!

Battle in Bethany Base

Really complex (took 4 days D: )

In fact... This image contains my first dabbing with 3D design: the pillars on the background and the angel's bone tail are made with the 3D capabilities of Photoshop CS6 (I guess it can do much more, but for now I'm learning)...

So, the first and last battle of Eva 05, moments before its self destruction...

The mechanical legs of the Eva have already been separated from the body and are exploding... Meanwhile, the Eva releases it's lance to use it's free hand (er, claw) to crush the angel's core...

All with several layers of snow, smoke and explosions...

The neck of the angel was made with the vertebrae that can be detached from the figure, however, the change of perspective they do when reaching the main body couldn't be accomplished (hence the convenient explosion there XD )

Anyway...

The student committee has gone on strike 'cuz they were accused of stealing money from the budget (imagine that, the dudes that are meant to represent the students, falling into acts of corruption)...

Well... At least I got a free day, enough time to finish this and the new banner...

I love that I keep the Photoshop file of every pic I make... I don't have to take new photos...

I just take the layer with the Eva from another and re-size it... Ahhh... Lazy me...

Battle at Styx

Evangelion Evolution Unit 05 arrived this morning so...

The battle in the main shaft (named "Styx") of the European NERV base "Bethany"...

The BG is from a .pdf file I got that depicts how to assemble out of paper the shafts of the base (there's one of Tokyo-III and many others from different mecha animes)

So, really easy, a bit of dust, shine and sparks...

I wanted to use the angel's head that comes with the figure, but I'll leave the heavy editing for vacations (I want to complete the angel's body using the gashapon I bought some months ago)...

The review of the figure is already on the Youtube Channel...

3 weeks left of school...

The last Eva units... Couldn't post last Wednesday 'cuz I was making a level on Little Big Planet... Took me the whole day! When I realized it was Friday... That thing is addictive, hahaha...

Anyhow... Eva 03 breaking wires, 04 among flames (I'm starting to think he's an arsenist) and Eva 05 with the tail of the 3rd angel...

I guess I'm done with these... I'll make one for Ze Bisto and the Released Eva 01 when Mark 6 is here...

Sorrow

Rather gloomy... Originally the Eva was supposed to be figthing Sachiel, but given the fact that I hardly know the actual size of Eva 05 compared to the other Evas, it deemed impossible to me to figure out how big the angel was supposed to be...
After that Eva 05 was gonna be either on the city or in a forest, but that seemed too clichè, so I went for a hand drawn scenario...
I had already used the water splashes, clouds and water brushes; here, I downloaded a snow brush for this image... A bit of motion-blur and we have a little blizzard!
After I finished the image and watched it carefully I wondered, so I ask you:
What do you think the Eva (or by default, its pilot) is thinking?

At the Very Beginning

Ladies an gentlemen... Dunno why I introduce, no one will come... Anyway...
Mari Illustrious Makinami...
Now this pic is by far the one I like the most... I think both the composition and contrast color/bg are right (finally). This one is actually the 2nd version, the 1st one had a pic of Mari without the helmet and wrist tubes. Unit-05, as I have stated before, is HARD to pose... But anyway, I like challenges; the tghing is the challenge came when it was time to ERASE the original bg... Mein Gott... So many crevices and curves and... The arm-lance!
Still i think is the best one... Several colors were enhance to look "shiny", like the yellow on the lance, pylons and shoulders... Also some sparks were added near the electricity-collecting-thingies on the pylons...

Brushes

I think I got over-exited with the brushes...
When I made that pic I had just received my Unit 05, so I wanted to use it; it's a tricky figure to pose, with all those "legs"; all I wanted was some simetry; in the end, that backfired, 'cuz 05 looks static compared with the MP-Eva...
I think I got right the splashes in the water and the blood (though the arm's flight direction just doesn´t fit, but it was too late to change it...) Also added some "movement blur" in the arm and the... "Arm Lance" (?) of unit 05... The photo is a resort/spa center in Mexico called La Trinidad... Cool place (so they say, never been there XD)
