Relic

The fossilized Mass Production Eva in the last chapter of the Evangelion manga...

For some reason I really liked the image of the Eva, covered by snow and turned into stone...
It has a sad setting, and the fact that we see it in a winter scene (which in never seen in any cannon Evangelion material) makes it look otherworldly (well, in Eva universe, at least)...

I made this image and then turned it to gray scale to match the scene in the manga and used (although it can't be seen clearly) a rock texture all over the Eva...

Anyhow, sorry I didn't posted last weeks, homework called, but I already have an image planned for Wednesday and one for the weekend (assuming of course my Eva 02 beta arrives this week)

Also, I'll start posting in English and Spanish and start adding Spanish subtitles to my Youtube videos, I just added those of Evangelion 13's review...

El Eva de Producción Masiva como se ve, fosilizado, en el último capítulo del manga de Evangelion...

Por alguna razón me gustó mucho la imagen del Eva, cubierto de nieve y convertido en piedra...
Tiene un escenario triste, y el hecho de que lo veamos en una escena de invierno (que no ocurre en ningún material canónico de Evangelion) lo hace parecer fuera de este mundo (bueno, del de Evangelion, al menos)...

Después de hacer esta imagen la convertí a escala de grises para que fuera como en el manga y (aunque no se ve muy bien) usé una textura de roca en el Eva...

En fin, lamento no haber posteado las semanas pasadas, la tarea llamaba, pero ya tengo una imagen planeada para el Miércoles y una para el fin de semana (asumiendo desde luego que mi Eva 02 beta llegue esta semana)

Como siempre, pueden ver la imagen original en mi Tumblr...
También empezaré a postear en inglés y español y a agregar subtítulos a mis videos de Youtube, apenas agregué los de la revisión del Evangelion 13...

♪ Tumbling Down, Tumbling Down, Tumbling Down... ♪ (Part 2)

God knows what's wrong with Blogger... I had to upload a .jpg file 'cuz it didn't recognized the .png from an Internet Explorer!

Anyhow, the Mass Production Evas impaling their cores in End of Evangelion, I used many new techniques here: first, the stars in the far BG; they are not the ones I normally use from brush, they were drawn using the "add noise" Photoshop tool... Also, the about-to-be-destroyed Earth's atmosphere was made with a tool I found in the layers window, don't remember the name and knowing it won't do either because I dunno if they're called the same in english XD

In any case, the Eva (one picture cloned and edited) is not holding the Spear... Once again I used Spear stock images 'cuz deleting their curvy borders is very hard... I drew the head based on a screen capture of the scene in the film, hence it's crapiness... After that I just edited each of the figures to look as they do on the movie...

Also, see HERE the review of Evangelions #032 and #033 from Revoltech! A couple of figures borderlining with vintage nowadays! (given of couse, how long it has been since Anno released Evangelion 1.0)

Continuing with the destruction of the Mass Production Evas (started HERE)...

Nothing really new in this one except for the editing of Evangelion 02's left elbow that ended looking kinda thin and the modification of the MP Eva's smile into a slight "ugh" (really! I did! check the original image HERE)

I was about to cancel this image because of difficulties with the chroma keying but I worked it out, anyways, less than a month for the DVD release of Evangelion Q!

Air (3)

More simple 3D design (the bridge) with some classical backgrounds...

It's numbered as 3 'cuz one of the earliest drawings I made depicted a scene of Eva 02 vs a MP Eva... Was quite fugly, but if you wanna check it it's here... Air (2) was a bit more acceptable, was the first on which I used the motion blur tool (see it here)

Planning on making the destruction of all MP Evas... Will take some time considering how long it takes me to make serial pics (like Zeruel's never-ending attack parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 that extend for over a year and it's unfinished)

Anyway, I added the wave effect on the lower left to give the impression of water movement... I think they left that out on purpose on EoE..

How to fix the "broken" neck of a 1st gen. Eva and not kill him trying:

So, Eva 01 volunteered to show this process even though the last one didn't went quite well...

...so this MP Eva will help us get his neck... Separated...

...easy on him...

...you can see now, every part of the neck can be separated...

...now, bend one side of the joint to max. and align the backside of the front piece of the neck with it...

...now, just slide the neck front up the joint and push it so that it ends parallel  with the joint's length...

 ...put the joint in the body and move it so that you can check it worked, if it did, you'll know XD

Ta-da!

No! Bad Unit one! Bad!!

Betrayal (manga stage 85)

Phew... This one was one heck of a party... With 8, this image is the one with the most Evas at the same time in an edited image (beating this one, with 6)...
The 85th stage of the manga was released this month, and with the story getting better and better, I couldn't help but to make this image, hahaha...
Now, I of course don't own 6 MP Revoltechs, only 2, so I had to take many pics separately, something that may lead to errors in perspective...
Eva 01 is being held by the 2 MP Evas, as it would be impossible to unite 3 images into a scene like that one; the lower plates were completed and like always, a glowing effect was placed on the eyes...
Eva 02 is also being held by the winged MP Eva; to avoid continuity errors I used the same RGB color combination for the blood and the eyes are not glowing, since in theory, it's out of battery...
The other 3 MP Evas were taken separately and then added...
Let's hope we see the ending soon...
I mean, he already kept us waiting over 15 years...

Brains!

Once again, an MP Eva finds himself being destroyed...
I used the spike-launcher-open-pylon, but you can hardly make it out... I think its a little bigger on the top... I added the empty shells coming out of the back (they're shotgun shells actually), added some smoke and drew the spikes on the MP Eva's head...
The blood and gore were made with the splash brushes...
Besides that, nothing new...
Awaiting for EvaEvo 03 and the soon-to-be Eva 04...

I actually recycled an old, unpublished picture to make this one, hahaha...
This one was easy to make, and despite the resolution of that old pic is not what I may have wished for it made the work easier: I just had to erase completely the old BG, hide the joints and add color and details here and there...
I first came up with the idea of the split image when I was drawing the sketch of what will later be the battle Vs. Rebuild Sahaquiel (those are gonna be 3!) and I thougth "how about a set of only two?"...
In theory, since they're the same size you can print on one side Eva 02 and in the other one the MP Eva...

I wonder if anyone that visits this blog has printed any of these...
I've printed 3 'cuz I read a lot...

"Calling": manga Stage 84 (part III)

Making the odd perspective of page 7 from that chapter was challenging, specially because of the Blog's horizontal image size vz the vertical manga page...
It has been some images since I used many Evas on a single image (last post doesn't count, they weren't edited)
Anyhow, standard croma key erasing, a bit of motion blur, some blood on Eva 02...

I was itching to do this image since I saw the spoiler online... A nice twist on the way the manga adaptation of The End of Evangelion is happening, don't you think?

I really don't care if Asuka dies, or if the wacky theories come true and someone other than Ritsuko ends shot on Terminal Dogma...
It'll be a win if giant naked Rei, or better yet, the whole "Komm Süsser Todd" scene occurs in the manga...
Waiting for EvaEvo 00 to arrive...

UPDATE: corrected Eva 02's blood color to blue... Had colored it red, hahaha...

Now, on this week's image: a MP Eva... They're featured too little for the plot importance they carry in their short appearance, much like Kaworu's...
Anyway, the stars and moon are recycled from the Eva 02 Trick 'r Treat Halloween image...
The Lance, if you see carefully, is made longer by repeating segments...
I think the Rei face of the Eva came out like, well...
Some mercy!... My hand aches from drawing 24 pages!

It must be hard for Zeruel to have a pet...
I wonder how he was petting the headless thing (and again! a mutilated MP Eva!)
I used some previously unseen tree brushes... Besides that, there's not much to say about the drawing, except that I finally mastered the use of chroma keys with Zeruel: since the dark blue nor the cream-colored keys worked for him due to the camera's flash reflection I had to find a purple chroma key...
It only took 5 minutes to erase the BG of the pictures...

Something You May Use

Hello!
Just finished this one... I've had the idea of a page marker since a long time ago (even before the conception of the blog itself!)
The look a bit jammed there don't you think?
I decided not to erase the joints this time (the ugly truth: got lazy)...
All you have to do now is print; pierce the upper part and slide a ribbon or string to use!
You may want to plastify it...
I have one planned for the Rebuild Evas, but I dunno if make it 'till the movies are finished (that may take one or two years) or make them with the ones I've got so far...
Anyhow, the next image is the Xmas special!
Got something nice in the oven for next week!

Confess!

Been playing with the light sources... I used a new croma key for this one: I had to be holding a 3 pound lamp with a hand while taking a non-shaky pic with the other... Kinda hard.
For some reason it is very easy to imagine the MP Evas being mutilated, mistreated, used, abused and/or sodomized...
I thought it would be harder to draw a BG from zero, but I think it turned out right... Why a dungeon? Dunno, better than another pic in Nerv with flat trees...
I only forgot to re-draw Unit 03's eyes...
The eyes always look opaque in the pictures...

Why an excess of mist?
A) Didn't wanna draw the bloody Eva 02
B) I did this 5 minutes ago 'cuz I have been having way too much homework...
C) There are some.. Production errors hidden in it...
In other words:
Sorry for the cheap image... Couldn't even erase or fade the joints of all Evas...

Shin Seiki Evangelion

Yay!
I managed to end (sort of) my homework and made this!
This is the 1st image that features more than 3 Evas and ironically, they were taken separately...
Each Eva was photographed individually and then added to the BG, that easens the editing of the body armor, wrists and neck.
All the eyes (well, of those with eyes) were drawn on 'cuz they were almost invisible in the picture.
I wonder why it's everything burned up... Iguess someone dropped his N2 mine...

Puppets

What can I say about this bastards...
They are creepy and bloodlusting, so they are cool...
They [theoretically] kill Asuka and savagely destroy Unit-02, so thumbs down...
When I attempted to erase the elbow joints I came acroos a BIG problem, so I couldn't do so, in any case I re-added the little details that are either not painted nor visible (like the details on the Entry Plug cover). It makes (to me) sense to place Kaworu as the pilot, since the Dummy Plug they use is made from him.
Originally, the bleeding arm of unit 02 was going to be in the pic, but backed off in the last moment... The whole scene makes me really uneasy...

Brushes

I think I got over-exited with the brushes...
When I made that pic I had just received my Unit 05, so I wanted to use it; it's a tricky figure to pose, with all those "legs"; all I wanted was some simetry; in the end, that backfired, 'cuz 05 looks static compared with the MP-Eva...
I think I got right the splashes in the water and the blood (though the arm's flight direction just doesn´t fit, but it was too late to change it...) Also added some "movement blur" in the arm and the... "Arm Lance" (?) of unit 05... The photo is a resort/spa center in Mexico called La Trinidad... Cool place (so they say, never been there XD)

Air (1)

My fav scene of all Evangelion... Unfortunately, when I made this image I only had the Mass Production eva... So I used Rebuild's Eva-02... Still I liked it... The sky in the far BG is a photo, This is the first pic that I made usind hand drawn-something... Still crappy but improving...
Ps: Dunno WTF with the mountain on the left... In that scene they where on a crater!
